Rep. Bert Reeves (R-Marietta) wants to give Georgia prosecutors more tools in their fight against illegal street gang activity.
“We are dealing with an epidemic in Georgia,” said Reeves. “Street gang violence continues to grow in this state. We have to find a way to fight it.”
Reeves is joined by a powerful group of Republican Representatives in sponsoring HB 874. Co-sponsors are Rep. Rich Golick, Rep. Chuck Efstration, Rep. Brian Strickland, Rep. Matt Ramsey and Rep. Earl Ehrhart. He made his first presentation in the House Judiciary Non-Civil Committee Monday, but only Chairman B.J. Pak was present. Pak asked Reeves to bring back his amended version of the bill Thursday for another hearing.
