State Representative Wendall Willard (R-Sandy Springs) wants to “remove a dark cloud from over Georgia’s Judicial Qualifications Commission” by abolishing the committee and then re-creating it.
Willard, the powerful Chairman of the House Judicial Commission, walked committee members through HB 808 and HR 1113 during a hearing Thursday afternoon. HR 1113 would create a constitutional amendment which would lead to the abolishment of the JQC, and give the General Assembly authority to re-create it. The legislation would also strip the state bar of any appointment authority to a newly constituted JQC.
