That sound you hear is hundreds of thousands of Georgia kids groaning about going back to school. According to the latest data from the Department of Education, there are 1.7 million kids enrolled in Georgia schools and there are now over 113,000 teachers serving in those schools. The Georgia Department of Education however, has one big plan still looming, the ESSA Plan – from the Every Student Succeeds Act, the successor to the now-controversial No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB).
