Former U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., in a Thursday speech before the Georgia chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association in Cobb County, endorsed Donald Trump for president, attacked the “funding decline of our armed forces” and declared that the closing of Georgia’s Fort McPherson was “the dumbest decision.”
The former senator, now associated with the DLA Piper firm in Atlanta, said “Trump is not going to let anyone poke us in the eye” – citing harassment by the Iranians and Russians of our military units— and attacked the Obama administration “for doing nothing” in response to these provocations. Chambliss said the next president “must restore America’s leadership role in the world.”
