A House of Representatives special committee presided over by Rep. Wendell Willard, R-Sandy Springs, held a hearing yesterday on the Judicial Qualifications Committee and heard damning testimony and news of JQC resistance.
First, former JQC executive director Jeff Davis and former JQC investigator (and now JQC member) Richard Hyde addressed allegations that former JQC Chairman and lawyer Lester Tate used his JQC position to gain an advantage over a Bartow County judge with which he had a dispute. Second, it was announced by Willard that a majority of the JQC (with Hyde and JQC member Linda Evans not voting) refuses to release its files to the special committee.
