U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson may be locked into his re-election bid for November, but that didn’t stop him from taking a moment to honor a colleague who is stepping out of politics – retiring U.S. Congressman Lynn Westmoreland.
In Isakson’s words Westmoreland is, “a true entrepreneur, a native Georgian, a dedicated father, an outstanding businessman, and an unquestioned leader in the U.S. House of Representatives.” The two lawmakers have known and worked together for over 40 years, dating back to their pre-politics days in real-estate. They then were among the first high-profile Republicans as the party took control of the state back from the Democrats, and stayed close as their careers took them from the State Capitol to the U.S. Capitol.
