The state Republican Party, in light of documented vote fraud in Georgia in recent years, is again taking no chances this election season. Under the direction of its general counsel, Atlanta attorney Ann Lewis, a squad of approximately 30 GOP attorneys is empowered to monitor potential trouble precincts around the Peach State.
This poll watcher force, armed with cell phone cameras, includes lawyers trained to watch for potential election and polling place violations. They have all been approved by the executive committee of the state Republican Party and certified by the Secretary of State’s office that has issued them a set of procedures.
Targets no doubt will be in Fulton and DeKalb counties, traditional Democrat electoral strongholds. (If a violation is witnessed, for example, a phone call can immediately be placed to a judge requesting a judicial remedy.)
The Secretary of State’s office issued the lawyers a credential, and now the state Republican Party will be notifying each election superintendent that they will be appearing in that county as a poll watchdog. This special anti-violation statewide legal force serves as a supplement to county poll watchers, especially since some county party organizations don’t have as many poll watchers as needed.
