A firestorm affecting Georgia’s Christian community — and one barely covered by the mainstream media– involves a black lay minister suing Georgia’s Department of Public Health for religious discrimination after it fired him. The state initially demanded that Dr. Eric Walsh’s turn over his sermons as part of the lawsuit. But last Friday, outgoing Attorney General Sam Olens dropped that incredible demand. However, the question remains: Why did the state agency fire Dr. Walsh?

InsiderAdvantage first saw a story by Fox News reporter Todd Starnes and decided to dig further. We found that Walsh was hired as a district public health director in 2014. However, as Starnes reported, “when the state found out that Walsh was also a lay minister and preached sermons on the weekends, they obtained copies of some of his sermons, divided them among state officials, reviewed the sermons, and then fired Walsh—informing him of the termination via voicemail.”
