Editorial note: This is part two of a two-part series on the South Metro Development Outlook conference. This article highlights the comments from the multitude of south Fulton officials and other leaders that attended the SMDO conference. See Part I here: http://insideradvantage.com/2017/02/24/ksu-economist-talks-2017-at-south-metro-development-outlook-conference/

Besides Dr. Roger Tutterow, who gave the economic outlook speech we covered in Part I, the SMDO conference drew a crowd of Atlanta and south Metro leaders. Mayors and Commissioners from around the region turned out to talk development and business.

Jack Longino, mayor of College Park, was one of the early speakers on the day and noted an important development actually happening right on site. The Hawks are building a development league arena at the International Convention Center. The arena is scheduled to be open by 2019 and means the Hawks will become the 16th NBA team to own and operate a D-League affiliate, one of the priorities of new owner Tony Ressler.
