For the astute television watcher, you may have seen a name start popping up during your commercial breaks who doesn’t seem to be running to represent the sixth congressional district. Peter Aman, likely in a bid to start building some name recognition for someone who has never run for office before, has begun airing some television ads amid the slew of ads for CD-6.
Fundraising disclosures were released last week and the money is starting to add up. By the end of the mayoral race, it may give the sixth district race a run for its money. Aman, the former COO of the city of Atlanta and a former partner at Bain, has raised more than $1,150,000. He raised more than $110,000 during the recent filing period and is sitting on $710,000. Keisha Lance Bottoms, a close ally of current Mayor Kasim Reed and current city councilwoman, has raised more than $450,000 so far and raised $81,000 during the most recent period. Bottoms was recently in the news for some interesting accounting when it came to paying, or not paying, her water bill.
