Democrat Christine Triebsch took home 24% of the vote in the race for 32, advancing to the runoff where she will face second place finisher Republican Kay Kirkpatrick, who advanced with 21%.
The crowded race, often an afterthought with the nationally recognized CD-6 contest in the same area, featured eight candidates in total – five Republicans and three Democrats. Those Republicans split the ballot in the historically red district, allowing Triebsch to take a plurality of the vote and advance to the June 20th runoff.
Treibsch, a trial attorney, will have her work cut out for her as she attempts to win the seat formerly held by Congressional candidate Judson Hill. Republican Kirkpatrick will be the odds on favorite for the Cobb County seat, which has leaned right for well over a decade.
Coming in third was Republican Roy Daniels at 15%, followed by fellow GOPers Gus Makris and Matt Campbell.
