Editor’s note: Lynn Westmoreland announced officially early Wednesday that he would not be running for Governor in 2018. He said in a prepared statement, “While I am humbled by the kind words and encouragement that we have received from so many over the last few months, I think the best contribution that I can make to our state is outside of elected office.”
Will former U.S. Congressman Lynn Westmoreland join several Georgia Republicans who have announced their intentions to run for Governor in 2018? There is a lot of speculation right now, although nobody knows for sure, and Westmoreland isn’t saying.
However, one thing is certain. A campaign is underway to “Draft Lynn Westmoreland for Governor,” and it includes emails to Republicans across the state, a DraftWestmoreland.com website, and even a Facebook page. They all send the same message, “Georgia Needs Lynn.”
