Members of the Georgia Republican Party voted in a straw poll at the party’s state convention over the weekend, perhaps giving an early look at which candidates party insiders are supporting ahead of the 2018 elections. Numbers come from Brant Frost, Chairman of the Georgia Association of Republican County Chairmen.
Secretary of State Brian Kemp and Senator Hunter Hill led the straw poll voting for Governor, outperforming Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle who finished fourth behind Undecided. The full results:

Senator President Pro Tem David Shafer convincingly won the straw poll for Lieutenant Governor, clobbering his two likely opponents, both of whom finished behind Undecided.

Senator Josh McKoon, who has not announced his plans for 2018, was the overwhelming choice of straw poll voters for Secretary of State.
