It may not be a new stadium, but the home of the Atlanta Hawks is getting a major facelift.  The Atlanta City Council voted Monday in favor of a $192.5 million renovation of downtown’s Philips Arena, that money coming from a combination of an extension of the city’s rental car tax, the sale of Turner Field, and money from the Hawks themselves.  A deal to renovate the arena had already been agreed to, but the money wasn’t officially set until this week.  Construction began immediately, and the arena will be closed for the rest of the Summer before re-opening for the start of Hawks season.  For the Hawks and one of the city’s crown jewels, this renovation has the ship RISING…
