Just in time for parents to start worrying ahead of school starting all-too-soon in the ever-shortening summer, the Georgia Department of Education released student scores for the 2017 Milestones Assessment System. Scores increased a range of subjects, including English, Language Arts and mathematics at all levels.

The percentage of students achieving the Proficient Learner level or higher stayed the same or increased on 18 of 26 End of Grade (EOG) assessments and End of Course (EOC) assessments. Also, where scores did decrease, they did so by only three percentage points or less, whereas score increases did so by as many as 12 points. Students hitting the Proficient Learner designation are considered on track to being college and career ready.
