As statewide candidates are beginning to get aggressive in their races, a new study has come out from Key Policy Data (KPD) regarding Georgia’s total tax burden. According to KPD, Georgia has the tenth lowest tax burden in the nation for 2015. Total tax burden takes into account state and local taxes and divides these collections by private sector personal income.
Georgia collected $35.2 billion in state and local taxes in Fiscal Year (FY) 2015. Overall, the average tax burden was 12.5%. This is 13% below the national average of 14.4%.
