Fresh off passage of one of their most prominent legislative goals, campus carry, the Georgia gun rights group (GCO) hosted their annual convention in Cobb County over the weekend. A couple months following the NRA convention held in Atlanta this year, turnout was down a bit but a couple hundred dedicated activists and members spent their Saturday learning about next steps for legislative issues and what to watch for at both the state and federal level.

Turnout may also have been impacted by some of the good news for the group. The General Assembly passed the campus carry legislation this past session and there is a decidedly pro-2nd amendment administration in the White House. Despite misgivings regarding congressional leadership, with Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell running the agenda, there are no “gun grabbing” bills on the docket.
