Tickets remain for most home football games for the University of Georgia with only days remaining until the opening game. Fans can purchase tickets to games against Samford, South Carolina, Missouri and Kentucky from the school.

Tickets for a fifth home game, against Mississippi State only sold out earlier this week. Saturday’s season opener against Appalachian State is the only home game that has not been available for single ticket sales to the public.

The secondary market for Georgia tickets also is depressed. Stub Hub has full season tickets available for less than $300. Single game tickets start at less than $20. Tickets for Saturday’s opener are available for $40 from the ticket reseller.

All of this for a team ranked in the preseason top 20 in most polls and one that returns a Heisman Trophy candidate in tailback Nick Chubb. It appears to be the quality of opponent that comes to Athens this year.

As in odd-numbered years, there is no Tennessee, no Auburn and no Georgia Tech on the home slate for Georgia. The closest thing to a rivalry is a visit by South Carolina, and that game doesn’t hold the same drawing power it did when Steve Spurrier coached the Gamecocks.

This could be one of Georgia’s weakest home schedules in decades. Through 2011, Auburn was a home game for odd years. Two years ago, the schedule at least featured Alabama and Georgia Southern. In 2013, it had LSU to add a little bite.

Anyone who wants to see Georgia play away from Athens this year had better be prepared to shell out more money. Especially if they want to see the game at Notre Dame. Stub Hub prices for that game start at $450.

Games at Tennessee and Georgia Tech and the Florida game in Jacksonville also command triple-digits on the ticket site.

The next odd-year schedule, in 2019, should also be more attractive. It is to feature a return trip from Notre Dame and a visit by Texas A&M.
