Valdosta City Manager Larry Hanson has been appointed to serve on the Broadband Deployment Advisory Committee (BDAC) by the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission Ajit Pai. As broadband coverage (or the lack thereof) in rural areas has been discussed by various state legislative committees this year, this appointment to a national advisory committee for the FCC is a special winner for Georgia.
Hanson is already a member of the BDAC’s Model Code for Municipalities working group.
“I am very pleased that Larry will be joining the full BDAC,” Chairman Pai said. “He has played a valuable role at the working group level in developing a municipal model code, and his experience and perspective will make him a great addition to the BDAC as it works toward final recommendations.”
