An investigative report released yesterday by the University System Board of Regents legal office to Chancellor Dr. Steve Wrigley contains damning conclusions about the actions of Kennesaw State University President Sam Olens in the aftermath of KSU cheerleaders kneeling during the national anthem at a Sept. 30 game. A Regents spokesman tells InsiderAdvantage “the report speaks for itself” which is leading to speculation about what the governing board will do next and if Olens will even be removed or his contract not renewed.

The report says Olens did not initiate the decision to have the cheerleaders remain in the locker room during the anthem for future games. But it concludes that Olens fumbled the situation and, far more seriously, disobeyed a direct order from the chancellor and Regents that any kneeling situation at any university should be reported immediately by a president to them. The Regents’ attorney also advised that the kneeling should be allowed.

Olens, the report says, failed to follow proper procedure in alerting the University System about the Sept. 30 incident and what would happen next. University System officials heard about the unfolding KSU controversy from media reports.
