‘Glory in South Bend’

A banner year for UGA football keeps getting better, and the program’s latest award will see the most memorable moment from their SEC Championship season immortalized in art.

Acclaimed sports painter Daniel A. Moore has just finished the ‘New Life Art’s College Football Play of the Year’ piece, showing Georgia receiver Terry Godwin’s spectacular one-handed touchdown catch against Notre Dame early in the season.  The play sparked Georgia to a one point win over the Fighting Irish and propelled them to an SEC Championship season that now sees them in the College Football Playoff.

Prints of the painting, shown above, are available for $125 at newlifeart.com.

Funnily this is not Moore’s first painting of a moment in a UGA-Notre Dame matchup – he also painted a portrait of Herschel Walker’s game winning touchdown against the Irish in the 1980 national championship, the only other meeting between the schools.
