Georgia was on the mind of a lot of visitors last year as the state’s tourism numbers hit a record high in 2017. Governor Nathan Deal announced Monday that Georgia’s tourism industry generated $63.1 billion in economic impact — which reflects an increase of 3.8 percent over 2016. The numbers were provided by the U.S. Travel Association and Tourism Economics.

The announcement was made as National Travel and Tourism Week kicks off and runs through this weekend.
