Georgia Governor-Elect Brian Kemp introduced his “Georgians First” transition committee Monday morning — a team that includes former U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price, current Public Service Commissioner Tricia Pridemore and prominent Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds.
Surrounded by his wife, daughters and members of the Transition Team, Kemp made the announcement three days after Democrat Stacey Abrams conceded there weren’t enough votes for her to force a runoff and two days after Kemp’s win was certified by Georgia elections officials.
Kemp said Price, an orthopedic surgeon and former Georgia Congressman, will help him develop a healthcare policy that includes a strong opposition to expanding Medicaid.
Tim Fleming will serve has Kemp’s Chief of Staff. Jeremy Brand will serve as Senior Advisor for the transition committee and David Dove as the Transition Director.
“This team will work with me to keep Georgia great,” said Kemp. “I’m prepared to do what it takes to ensure a smooth and successful transition on Jan. 14.”
The transition also includes former Congressman Bob Barr, former GAGOP Chairman Alec Poitevint, and Virginia Galloway. Poitevint will serve as co-chair over the Government Relations committee. Pridemore, Barr and Reynolds will all serve on this committee.
Harold Reynolds will chair the committee charged with working with Kemp to craft a state budget. Jamie Reynolds will serve as Co-Chair of the Georgians First Committee.
Chuck Harper will co-chair the appointments committee.
Kemp said his first priorities as governor will be to maintain the state’s growing economy, improve healthcare for all Georgians and strengthen rural Georgia.
