Researchers from Georgia Tech and Emory University have discovered a new way to detect organ transplant rejection – and it might gross you out. The team published a study in the science journal Nature Biomedical Engineering that uses injected nanoparticles to detect certain granzymes, a surefire detection method. If a rejection is detected, the patient’s urine will glow. A strange method to be sure, but a possibly life saving one should it replace the invasive core biopsies currently practiced. There’s some serious science in there, but whether you picked up on all that or not our local researchers making major discoveries has their ship RISING…
