On Thursday, the Advanced Technology Development Center held its annual ATDC Startup Showcase. The ATDC is the state’s oldest technology incubator, and among the oldest in the country. The Showcase featured five startups that are graduating from the program and highlighted dozens of ATDC’s most promising companies.

“We are proud of the ATDC Class of 2019,” said Frank Tighe, ATDC’s lead entrepreneur-in-residence. “They are continuing the state of Georgia’s track record of being a leader in creating high-growth technology companies and high-value jobs.”

The ATDC is a program of the Georgia Institute of Technology and is funded by the Georgia General Assembly. Their mission is to “work with entrepreneurs in Georgia to help them learn, launch, scale, and succeed in the creation of viable, disruptive technology companies.”

The ATDC Class of 2019 is:

  • Evident simplifies personal data and security by providing a secure API that allows companies to securely obtain and use personal data from individuals;
  • Florence Healthcare helps deliver medical breakthroughs by freeing clinical teams to spend more time with patients and less time managing tasks and documentation required by regulation;
  • Pointivo provides technology that captures 3D models and measurements of a scene or structure using only a smartphone, eliminating a previous need for special hardware or laser scanners;
  • Sideqik is a marketing automation platform that helps brands discover and activate influencers, quantifying campaigns with end-to-end measurement; and,
  • ThingTech leverages the Internet of Things (IoT) to connect public and private sector organizations to data in real-time with insights to help them reduce operational costs, increase efficiency, and, ultimately improve customer service.

This was the 33rd year for the Startup Showcase and is Georgia’s largest spring technology event. Besides the featured companies, the Showcase also features a keynote speaker. This year’s speaker was Matt McConnell, an Atlanta-based entrepreneur and co-founder of Intradiem. McConnell is a 1994 graduate of Georgia Tech, with a degree in industrial engineering. Intradiem is a leading provider of robotic process automation for contact centers. Based in Alpharetta, the company delivers more than 1 billion automation actions per year to improve contact center productivity and performance for Intradiem clients.

Intradiem was a 2000 ATDC graduate and now, nearly 20 years later, features a client roster that includes JPMorgan Chase, AT&T, United Healthcare, MetLife and Allstate. “People sometimes see us as an overnight success, but it was 20 years of focus and dedication to our singular mission — to transform service with automation — that has been the engine driving that success,” McConnell said.

“ATDC has been a core contributor to Pointivo’s success,” said Dan Ciprari, Pointivo’s co-founder and CEO. “I met Habib, my co-founder, while I was serving as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR). We spent our first three years at ATDC, we received more than $1.6 million in NFS grant funding with the help of ATDC, and our first investor came from relationships formed through ATDC.”
