Atlanta Public Schools has zeroed in on a replacement for outgoing Superintendent Meria Carstarphen, whose contract was controversially not renewed for next year. Spelman College graduate Lisa Herring was announced this week as APS’ sole finalist for the position, and she boasts an impressive resume. The Macon native helped turn around Birmingham’s struggling schools as superintendent, regaining full accreditation for the district in 2018 after it had been put on probation five years earlier. Proposed Fulton Co. property tax hike
Fulton County homeowners let out a collective groan Monday following the announcement that property taxes will be increasing by more than 12% over the rollback millage rate.
