Gov. Brian Kemp on Monday vetoed SB 156, which would have created the position of chief labor officer within the Georgia Department of Labor – essentially gutting the power of the labor commissioner, currently Republican Mark Butler.  The bill came out of angst over a backlog of unemployment claims that built up during the pandemic.  Critics on both sides of the aisle said the department of labor was a mess.  But Kemp backed Butler, a longtime ally, said the bill would do more harm than good.  The governor’s veto has Butler RISING…
