A third candidate filed paperwork Wednesday in Atlanta’s wide-open mayoral race, and he comes with some serious baggage. City Councilman Antonio Brown is currently under federal indictment for fraud, with prosecutors alleging that he lied on credit applications to receive loans and credit cards – and then saying that he was the victim of identity theft and was not responsible for repaying the charges. Not a great look for a prospective mayor, a position that in Atlanta has seen its share of shadiness over the years, something that voters presumably would want to move away from. Proposed Fulton Co. property tax hike
Fulton County homeowners let out a collective groan Monday following the announcement that property taxes will be increasing by more than 12% over the rollback millage rate. The hike, per the over the Fulton County Board of Commissioners, is to increase funding for the 2025 General Fund.
