Clint Dixon, R-Gwinnett introduced SB 6EX at the start of the special legislative session, he was met with fierce opposition by Gwinnett County Democrats who said they were blindsided by the bill and that it was an attempt to wrest back control of the county to GOP hands. Dixon argued that it was meant to remove partisan politics from the school system, and to increase the number seats on the Board of Commissioners to better represent the county. Fulton County homeowners let out a collective groan Monday following the announcement that property taxes will be increasing by more than 12% over the rollback millage rate.
