Thanks to new, bigger cargo ships, the Talmadge Bridge over the Savannah River near Savannah needs to be replaced in coming years, either by a new, taller bridge, or possibly a tunnel going under the river. Those options will obviously be very expensive, between $1.5 and $2 billion. But who will pay for it? Not the Georgia Ports Authority, who did pay $10 million for a feasibility study but say they can’t be counted on as a funding source. Atlanta snubbed for ’28 DNC Convention
The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists.
