More than 260,000 Atlantans watch television over the air for free with an antenna, and if you are among them – it’s time to rescan.

Starting tomorrow, September 6th, Atlanta stations are due to change frequencies, meaning if you rely on your antenna you need to rescan your television to pick up the stations.  If you don’t, you won’t be able to watch your favorite shows, (The Georgia Gang, anyone?) once the channels get shuffled.  If you watch TV through a cable or satellite provider no need to worry – they will take care of the rescanning process for you.

Luckily rescanning isn’t nearly as difficult as it sounds – just follow the instructions below:

  1. Select Scan or Autotune from your TV or converter box control menu to start the scanning process.
  2. Your TV will do the rest. This process usually takes a few minutes to complete.

Once you rescan your stations should appear on the same channels as before.  If you haven’t rescanned recently, you may even find some new channels you didn’t know you had!
