The Georgia Bureau of Investigation last Sunday arrested Rashawn Smith, age 20, in Midway, Ga., after he allegedly created a fake Facebook account pretending to be a Trump-supporting white nationalist terrorist. He was charged with “Dissemination of Information Relating to Terroristic Acts” for a Facebook post that contained a threat to future protesters upset over the February shooting death of Ahmaud Arbery in Glynn County.
The GBI tweeted that it is investigating a Facebook post that contains a threat to future protests connected to Arbery, a black man killed after an incident involving two armed white men. Authorities say Smith created Facebook account of an unwitting individual to post a hoax threat.
GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles tells InsiderAdvantage that “there was not an intention to carry out the threat, but there was an intention to incite terror.”
If anyone has any information pertaining to this case, they are urged to contact the GBI at 1-800-597-TIPS (8477).
