The business of Georgia is business, and how. So says Site Selection magazine, the national publication that placed Georgia No. 1 in its annual rankings of the best states in which to establish a private business. Criteria included construction and expansion of business facilities and infrastructure, tax burdens for businesses, and assessments of states’ business climates by corporate real estate executives. This feather in the cap for Georgia can only help Gov. Nathan Deal and industry leaders as they continue to promote business expansion and economic growth in the state. RISING
Atlanta Beltline light rail back on the menu?
Many Atlantans were dismayed when Mayor Andre Dickens seemingly tabled the idea of light rail along the Atlanta Beltline, the city’s wildly popular and successful pedestrian path. After all, light rail was a core part of the loop’s original vision, meant to connect the city all around its (eventual) 22-mile loop. But now the Atlanta City Council is pushing back, with 11 councilmembers, led by Atlanta City Councilwoman Kelsea Bond signing onto a resolution signaling support for the idea.
