As state officials continue to ponder and debate elections changes, Floyd County in northwest Georgia has taken some tangible steps towards revamping its own local elections process. The county is preparing to open in March a brand new elections office, featuring a new elections board and supervisor. Located in downtown Rome, the new office is being created out of $200,000 sunk into renovating a section of the Floyd County Health Department, and will feature a viewing room for ballot counting and Logistics and Analysis testing. The building will also house the county’s elections equipment and voting machines, keeping everything secure and centralized.
