Last Thursday the Georgia Senate voted 34-20 to adopt the House-amended version of House Bill 218. The legislation protects lawful gun owners during a declared state of emergency where unlawful gun confiscation could occur, and further recognizes all out-of-state carry permits. It now goes to the desk of Gov. Brian Kemp, who is expected to sign it into law.

House Bill 1358, to institute constitutional carry in Georgia, will probably receive a hearing in the House Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee this week. InsiderAdvantage will continue to update you on its status in the legislative process.

By the way, the National Rifle Association has sent out an email alert that “there is a group telling its members that Senate Bill 319, a Senate version of constitutional carry, is being held up in that chamber by the Republicans.” The NRA flatly says “that is false.”

The alert goes on to say to its Georgia members that, thanks to your efforts encouraging the Senate Rules Committee to advance constitutional carry, the committee is expected to pass Senate Bill 319 along with Senate Bill 259, a bill enhancing preemption. Insiders believe the bills should receive floor votes today.
