One unexpected change coming out of the pandemic has been the loosening of alcohol laws, whether that be from takeout, delivery, or ‘drinking zones’ within cities.  Columbus officials are considering a change of their own, creating a new district in uptown where it would be legal to take a beverage, in a specially marked container, out of restaurants or bars.  Local restaurant owners are excited at the proposal, something they say has been on the table since 2018 but has only recently picked up steam.  Other Southern cities including Nashville and Savannah have introduced similar legislation in recent years.
