On the morning after Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock held on to Georgia’s U.S. Senate seat by narrowly defeating Republican Challenger Herschel Walker, Republican activist Debbie Dooley took aim at current Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan. She sent out an email calling on individuals to urge their local GOP to censure Duncan and “let him what you think of him as he leaves office.”
She started the email by saying, “Current Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan actively worked to defeat Herschel Walker by repeatedly criticizing Herschel and running to the liberal media giving interviews. The final straw is when Duncan staged going to the poll to vote, and falsely claiming he stood in line for an hour but couldn’t vote for Walker or Warnock.”
Dooley said Duncan then “ran to CNN and did an interview.” She goes on to say that Duncan was called out by his county’s election board member “for lying about standing in line for over an hour. The longest wait the day Duncan voted was 20 minutes.”
Walker lost the December 6 runoff election by less than 1 percent of the vote. She points out in the resolution that “Duncan went on national television days before the December 6, 2022 U.S. Senate runoff to publicly declare his refusal to vote for Republican Herschel Walker and to condemn him.”
Dooley even provided a sample resolution that can be used by local GOPs.
“WHEREAS, Geoff Duncan refused to endorse the Republican candidate for Lt. Governor in the 2022 election; and
WHEREAS, Geoff Duncan went on national television days before the December 6, 2022 U.S. Senate runoff to publicly declare his refusal to vote for Republican Herschel Walker and to condemn him; and
WHEREAS, Herschel Walker lost the December 6, 2022 U.S. Senate runoff election by less than 1% of the vote following Geoff Duncan’s public refusal to support him on national television, and
WHEREAS, it appears that Geoff Duncan took these disloyal actions to secure a financial contract with CNN to be a television personality, and
WHEREAS, Geoff Duncan has shown during his one and only term as Lt. Governor to have no loyalty to the Republican Party and has only sought to further his own narrow personal agenda;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the ___________ County Republican Party that Geoff Duncan is censured for his selfish conduct and his repeated disloyalty to Republicans everywhere.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be personally delivered to Geoff Duncan.”
Duncan did not seek reelection this year.
In closing her email, Dooley remarked that “There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that current RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel needs to step down as RNC Chair. You will hear more on this later..”
