For decades the city of Dalton, in northwest Georgia, has been known as the “Carpet Capital of the World.”  But it soon may take on another moniker as it embraces the solar power industry with Qcells opening the largest solar panel factory in the country there.  Vice President Kamala Harris was in town last week to celebrate the announcement of the largest solar order in U.S. history, which was aided by tax credits inserted into the Inflation Reduction Act, passed last year.  The community solar project will deploy panels in Illinois, Maine and Maryland, all made from units built right here in the Peach State, and will power more than 140,000 homes and businesses when complete.
