A major strike from the Writers’ Guild of America this week has shaken Hollywood – but what about the Hollywood of the South? Luckily for us most writers are based out of California, while it’s mainly productions that have already been written and greenlit that head to Georgia for filming. Strikes also tend to immediately shut down live shows such as the Tonight Show, which also aren’t typically filmed here. Downtown Atlanta’s State Farm Arena is quite the box office draw. How big? From October to to March, State Farm brought in $76.2 million across 60 events, making it the third-highest grossing venue in the entire nation, behind only New York’s Madison Square Garden and the Sphere in Las Vegas, and fifth globally.
