The Metro Atlanta Chamber announced on Monday they have launched InnovATL, a brand to unite Atlanta’s innovation ecosystem. The InnovATL brand will help to serve as an umbrella for innovation events and news in the Atlanta area, working with companies, non-profits and education institutions across the region.
“Metro Atlanta is the nexus of innovation,” said Alex Gonzalez, chief innovation and marketing officer of the Metro Atlanta Chamber. “We have the highest proportion of Inc. 5000 companies in the country, and the tech sector is just the tip of the iceberg – our incredible strength grows out of the diversity of our founders and industries. InnovATL will undergird the global impact of metro Atlanta’s uniquely inclusive innovation ecosystem.”
Existing tech or startup ecosystems have not focused solely on innovation previously, and the InnovATL will work across industries and finance in new ways. Fueled by the immense higher education resources, entrepreneurs and corporations that call Atlanta home, the brand will help to improve collaboration across these stakeholders and promote them – and Atlanta – across the globe as an innovation destination.
“InnovATL will amplify metro Atlanta’s influence as a global nexus of innovation and create scale for our entrepreneurial, corporate and creative communities,” said Julia Houston, chief strategy & marketing officer, Equifax, and co-chair of the Metro Atlanta Chamber’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Advisory Board. “The new InnovATL platform aims to draw national recognition to metro Atlanta’s vibrant innovation ecosystem and unite the changemakers, innovators, founders, creators and companies who call the region home.”
With more than 250,000 students enrolled across the region, companies looking for new ideas have an unbelievable talent pipeline right at their doorstep. Georgia Tech will host one of the first events under the InnovATL brand, Avant South. The conference will explore artificial intelligence and the importance of AI regulation both from a private and government view.
“InnovATL will strengthen the already-significant collaboration between metro Atlanta’s research universities and the private sector, further bolstering metro Atlanta’s reputation as a global innovation hub,” said Dr. Ángel Cabrera, president of the Georgia Institute of Technology.
The launch of the brand comes the day after Atlanta was ranked as the second most livable city in the U.S. by The Economist, passed only by Honolulu and ahead of Pittsburgh. The magazine noted Atlanta’s ability to rebound from the pandemic and a theme of “optimism amid instability.” The city has been in the top ten for more than ten years.
The InnovATL brand will get its official kickoff from September 26-October 20 during what was formerly known as Atlanta Innovation Week and now InnovATL2023. The event will highlight the confluence of culture, corporations and startups that are a critical part of the Atlanta business network.
