Firearm safety bill passes Senate

In a rare showing of bipartisan support for a firearm related piece of legislation, the Georgia Senate on Wednesday passed SB 340, which would waive sales tax on gun safes and other “firearm safety devices.”  Sponsored by State Sen. Kay Kilpatrick, R-Marietta, the bill passed the Senate by a 46-1 measure, with legislators on both sides of the aisle applauding it as a way to increase safety in the home, particularly for children.  It now goes to the House for consideration.  RISING…
