In a rare showing of bipartisan support for a firearm related piece of legislation, the Georgia Senate on Wednesday passed SB 340, which would waive sales tax on gun safes and other “firearm safety devices.” Sponsored by State Sen. Kay Kilpatrick, R-Marietta, the bill passed the Senate by a 46-1 measure, with legislators on both sides of the aisle applauding it as a way to increase safety in the home, particularly for children. Atlanta snubbed for ’28 DNC Convention
The City of Atlanta and the Georgia Democratic Party made a strong push to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, but fell short once again when it was announced that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the three finalists.
