The city of Savannah and surrounding counties are facing a major issue going forward – making sure the region has enough drinking water.  With an exploding population and the arrival of the massive new Hyundai EV factory in nearby Bryan County, state and local officials have long pondered the need for more water, as the current solution of relying on a Floridan aquifer.  The solution?  Some $500M in the upcoming budget to drill wells and pipelines to draw water straight from the Savannah River.  The project would double Savannah’s water capacity and put water worries to rest, at least for the next couple of decades.
