Brandon Beach
Another Georgian who is a longtime political ally of Donald Trump— state Sen. Brandon Beach, R-Alpharetta— has been named by the president to be the next U.S. treasurer. It is a senior leadership position within the U.S. Treasury Department led by Secretary Scott Bessent, and oversees the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, the United States Mint and the gold reserve at Fort Knox.
Beach, first elected in 2012 to represent the 21st Senate District comprised of part of Fulton and Cherokee counties, chairs the Senate Economic Development and Tourism Committee and is the executive director of True North 400, previously known as the North Fulton Community Improvement District. A graduate of Louisiana State University, he is also a former president of the North Fulton Chamber of Commerce and served as a board member of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.
Beach’s background makes him uniquely qualified for the Treasury post, says Georgia Chamber CEO Chris Clark, who cites Beach’s expertise on monetary and economic policy. “Senator Beach will bring his strong business mindset to the Treasury Department, ensuring it remains an efficient government agency,” Clark stressed.
Beach was among a group of GOP lawmakers who called for a special session of the General Assembly to consider changes to Georgia’s voter ID and election laws after Joe Biden’s presidential win in 2020, but the governor declined. The Alpharetta Republican later championed several election integrity measures, many of which became law. During the current General Assembly sessi0n, he has been quite active sponsoring and supporting many pieces of important legislation ranging from tort reform to banning trans males from competing in women’s sports and ensuring female privacy in locker rooms.
His new job as U.S. treasurer does not require U.S. Senate confirmation.
