It’s been three years since the infamous “Young Slime Life” gang trial began in Atlanta, and as it is set to conclude it appears that Fulton Co. DA Fani Willis’ office won’t have been able to secure a single murder conviction. Five men, including rapper Young Thug, were charged in the 2015 drive-by shooting of Donovan Thomas outside an Atlanta barber shop. But in a sprawling case that wound up becoming the longest in state history, Fulton prosecutors couldn’t get any murder charges to stick, leaving only a series of lesser charges and major egg on the face of the DA’s office. Could Paramount be coming to Georgia?
Paramount Skydance, one of the biggest and most prominent entertainment companies in the world, is furious at its home state of California over a lawsuit filed by the state’s attorney general attempting to stop a merger. In response, Chair David Ellison has threatened to move from Los Angeles to a state not actively suing his company, and Georgia was on the shortlist of possibilities. Gov. Brian Kemp welcomed the speculation at a luncheon Monday (and took a jab at California Gov. Gavin Newsom), and while it’s a longshot the mere possibility of luring Paramount has Georgia RISING…
