The Atlanta-based Party for Socialism and Liberation, backed by failed Democrat gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, issued a call for a Tuesday evening protest against the federal Immigration Customs and Enforcement agency (ICE) on Buford Highway in Brookhaven. Law enforcement sources said it was no surprise that it would end in a riot resulting in tear gas, firebombs thrown at law officers, six arrests and radicals brazenly vandalizing police cars with no officers in sight.
The national “No Kings” protests planned for June 14 against President Donald Trump — the day of the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary highlighted by a spectacular military parade in Washington, D.C.— now has far-leftists and anarchists planning an anti-ICE dimension. They are especially angry, along with Abrams and other prominent Georgia Democrats egging them on, over ICE’s ongoing deportations of illegal alien criminals.
Sen. Raphael Warnock, D-Ga., took to the X platform to blame Trump for using “troops as political pawns to sow division” that sparked this week’s Los Angeles violence– rather than condemning lawbreakers who initiated the chaos. Abrams, also on X, urges resistance at Saturday’s “No Kings” demonstrations around the country, claiming that ICE raids and deportations of illegals are “a deliberate escalation. It’s textbook authoritarianism.”
In response to the Los Angeles riots and looting that caused Trump to federalize the California National Guard to help restore order, and in preparation for possible Saturday unrest, Gov. Brian Kemp declares: “My office remains in close contact with state and local law enforcement and stands ready to take whatever appropriate action is needed to safeguard our communities from crime and violence. … (A)ny violence against those who protect and serve will be met with quick and heavy accountability.”
It should be noted that the Party for Socialism and Liberation and especially the violence-prone Atlanta chapter of Antifa – whose supporters have been active in militant opposition to the now-completed Atlanta police training center—are already being monitored by the FBI along with state and local law enforcement.
