Residents of Hiawassee in northeast Georgia were shocked when plans were floated by the Tennessee Valley Authority to draw down Lake Chatuge some 20 feet for up to eight years to renovate the dam. Fulton County homeowners let out a collective groan Monday following the announcement that property taxes will be increasing by more than 12% over the rollback millage rate.
