Republican members of the Georgia House of Representatives claimed late last week that Democrats are undermining the state’s immigration law. The Republicans claim their Democratic cohorts are “attacking Gwinnett County’s Democratic sheriff for enforcing a state statute that requires local law enforcement to inform ICE when they’ve detained someone in the country illegally.”

“Levelheaded voters from all political parties support maintaining law and order. Immigration is part of the fabric of America, but it must be done legally under the rules that our governments enact,” Republican leaders said in a press statement released Friday.
