Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr says he is continuing the fight to protect SB 185 – which prohibits the use of State funds to pay for a transgender-identifying inmate's “sex reassignment” surgery – after a group of incarcerated transgender women and men sued Georgia corrections officials challenging the new state law. The lawsuit, filed Friday morning, accuses the state of violating the Eighth Amendment

“It’s absurd that this is even a conversation,” said Carr. “Georgia taxpayers should never cover the costs for a prisoner’s sex change. Period. I’ll fight this all the way to the Supreme Court.”
