U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff, D-Ga., has been proclaiming for months that he “championed” the Veterans Affairs Home Loan Reform Act of 2025. According to congressional and media sources, however, his claim couldn’t be further from the truth.

U.S. Rep. Derrick Van Orden, R-Wisc., a former Navy SEAL and lead sponsor of the bill, flatly declares that Ossoff is telling “a bald-faced lie.” Van Orden, in a statement, explains that the Democrat “had absolutely nothing to do with this bill, and I mean nothing. He did not even vote for it-- it passed by unanimous consent. This disgusting and shameful behavior must stop. Veterans are not political props.”
