A veteran educator in Georgia public schools is throwing his hat in the ring to become the state’s next school chief – challenging incumbent Richard Woods. Dr. Fred "Bubba" Longgrear, who is running on the Republican ticket, says he “is passionate about and committed to ensuring all Georgia schools are safe learning environments, every child acquires and develops strong literacy skills, and career development opportunities are designed to meet the needs of each student in Georgia.”

On his website, Longgrear says he has a “strong passion to engage Georgia families in their children's education to ensure success for all students” He has been a teacher, coach, principal, and most recently a local Superintendent for the last 11 years.
